Hamilton Yarns Scrapbook 2009 January
2008 January - March We played a couple of gigs in London - one alongside Mary Hampton, Birdengine and the poet Gary Goodman at a pub called The Shaftesbury in Hornsey, and the other courtesy of Dexter Bentley at the Half Moon in Herne Hill. Then there was a fine Sunday afternoon gig at The Albert in Brighton, in which Colin from Edgeworld Records assembled some of his favourite local musical weirdos - Vitamin B12, Req, Ian Ordeal, Gary Goodman, Renford and us - for one last blast. April We began recording some new songs from our mostly piano-based set. This is the piano in the chapel at Lewes Priory School.
"To give and not to count the cost"
May We played as a two-piece in The Vaults cafe in Oxford. It was sparse but good, we reckon.
August Pre-gig thoughts
Iain and Marrion at the Komedia, 16th August 2008. Later in August we went to Hull to play as part of the Seeds and Bridges season curated by Jez Riley French. We walked under the mighty Humber Bridge, sat in a gas-lit pub, played on Jez's dulcitone celeste. Yes, good times were had in Hull.
October We ventured up to Liverpool to play at a Lost Voices night. We had a good stroll along the banks of the Mersey, where we came across this sitting bull. We also saw a water rat in Sefton Park. Thanks to Jonathan for the fine hospitality and company.
2007 January Over at the West Hill Hall...
April An Easter show at The Prince Albert. Here's a video of the puppet show. May We played at Oxfam in Brighton with The Sticks, as concocted by Woodland Recordings. Here's it: Later in the month we supported Maher Shalal Hash Baz in London. They put a smile on our face.
June We played in a big old garage as part of Lewes Art Lab. Bagpipes were involved.
August and September We played a whole new set of songs at the All Saints Centre in Lewes, then again at the Sanctuary cafe:
December We launched our new CD at West Hill Hall, with help from Vitamin B12 and Art Terry & the Fairies. 2006 March
April And in Deptford Creek on an old minesweeper:
(and here's some more pics of that weekend) In October we went to Paris and played at Gallerie en Marge, which has since closed down. We made up a song there called Walking Out. Thanks to Maxime for making it a great trip. And to Benoit Grimalt for the photo below, taken at the gallery.
In December we played at a Winter Fair in Suffolk at this place:
